Zara Edition: AW13 Collection
High-street giants Zara have unveiled their 2013 ‘Edition’ collection. The Spanish brand’s premium line, with an even stronger emphasis on fabric and craftsmanship, is a more luxurious take on the classic, streamlined aesthetics for which they are known.
The mini-collection, styled in eleven interchangeable looks, features a monochrome palette of black, grey, navy, brown and white; striking a balance between smart and relaxed that is perfect for the upcoming winter months.
Edition AW13 is underpinned by a simple, formulaic approach to putting together outfits. Colours and silhouettes appear simple and easy to pull off, without the danger of clashing or looking out of place. Many Mod trends have been given an update: cropped trousers, buttoned-up tie-less shirts and statement coats all make an appearance.
Trousers rendered in heavy-duty fabrics such as wools and brushed cotton feature rich pleats and cuffs but are kept slim throughout. On trend pieces are also given a moment, coming in the form of roll necks and two-tone brown leather ankle boots, versatile enough to be worn with a suit or jeans.
Other garments worthy of investment include a show stopping single-breasted trench coat complete with detachable fur collar, and a de-constructed, cropped and embossed brown leather jacket. The latter is the perfect, timeless alternative to the countless motorcycle or rocker jackets currently on the market and will elevate any look thanks to the unusual texture and shine of the lambskin.
