It's not the easiest color of the rainbow to pull off, but when done right, it looks simply amazing. We're talking about yellow, of course. As Sarah Silverman reminded us last night at the American Music Awards, a solid block of bright, blinding yellow can be a girl's best friend... when complemented by strong features, glowing skin, and simple makeup, of course. The beautiful comedienne wore a lovely little one-shoulder cocktail number by Lela Rose that turned heads in all the right ways. What's more, this saucy minx isn't the first trendsetter to sport bright yellow as of late. Take, for instance, Carey Mulligan. Just last month, as we reported, the actress stunned on the red carpet in a yellow Christian Dior gown at a screening of Inside Llewyn Davis during the 57th BFI London Film Festival.
Though Sarah and Carey used yellow to different effects, their mastery of the bold hue shares certain qualities from which all who are planning (hoping?) to boldly don yellow this holiday season can learn. The secret? Simplicity. In short, both ladies let the yellow have all the attention, and didn't overdo it on the accessories or makeup.
