Erin Fetherston Wants to Give Brides Their (Sultry) Something New

Who doesn’t love a saucy set of lingerie, what with its bows, lace, garter belts, corseting, rows of hook and eyes, and the like? A lot of ladies, as it turns out. “Stylized lingerie is really beautiful, but sometimes it makes people feel a little silly,” said Erin Fetherston. “It can seem like a costume and make you feel like you’re putting on a show,” she added. Fetherston hopes to remedy this with her latest project: a range of effortless underthings which, crafted in collaboration with Cosabella, debuts exclusively here. “I had been dreaming about doing something in intimates and lingerie for a long time,” said the designer, who’s known for her ultra-ladylike ready-to-wear. While sleep and loungewear will be introduced in subsequent collections, the first installment of the ongoing partnership focuses on the bridal trousseau. Appropriate, considering Fetherston tied the knot with Gabe Saporta this past May. “I found it very hard to find bridal lingerie that was just right for me,” she recalled. “Everything was too over-the-top or too simple, so I tried to hit a balance with this collection.” Describing the easy black, peach, and white wares as made “for women, by women,” Fetherston explained that the pieces—like a subtle pink lace bra-and-bottoms set adorned with giant satin bows, or a ruffle-embellished bra paired with point d’esprit briefs—are meant to be flirty, sexy, and fun. “I connect with the softer spectrum of femininity—I’m really a romantic,” she mused. “I’m a dreamer, and I wanted the lingerie to have that feeling.”
